This week, our employee spotlight series Ghost Sighting shines a light on a member of Ghost’s Front End Software Engineering Team, Sean Crater. Let's get to know him!
Tell us a bit about your family and where you’re from, Sean.
Hey there! I’m originally from the Boston, MA area, lived in New Hampshire through my college years and lived on the New Hampshire seacoast for a couple of years post-grad. At the end of the pandemic, we were tired of the snow and my fiancé and I relocated to the Raleigh, NC area where we plan to live for years to come. Aside from my lovely fiancé, Chelcie, I have three brothers and we’re all over the U.S. from Bar Harbor to the Bay Area to Denver, but we love to get together when we can.
How’d you end up in this industry?
What’s something on your bucket list right now?
One thing I’m really looking forward to is my honeymoon where Chelcie and I will be traveling to Italy and Greece. I’ve only left the United States twice in my life, Canada and Bermuda. It’ll be great to explore somewhere I’ve never been before and it’ll be even more fun exploring with my best friend.
What does a typical weekend look like for you? What do you like to do when you’re not working?
We live a very relaxed life but we love the town we live in. We’re in a suburb of Raleigh that has a ton of festivals and town gatherings that we frequently attend. We love to get together with friends for a night out on the town, grab a beer at the local breweries, or entertain friends when they frequently come down to visit. I’m always working on a new house project or playing something new on my guitars. On weeknights, we’re always trying out new healthy recipes after a fun CrossFit workout.
What are you most proud of in your career so far?
This is a really tough question to answer, but I honestly think the most rewarding part of my career has been seeing the impact I’ve had on others. The thing that excites me the most is growing others around me and it’s been great being able to look back and see old colleagues succeeding leveraging things that I’d taught them. It’s also been incredible to be able to look back at my own growth from lessons I’ve learned from other engineers in my own path along the way.
What do you enjoy most about working at Ghost?
Ghost is truly unique from any place I’ve worked before. When I first met our CEO, Greg Martin, he mentioned that a company is only as good as its employees. That methodology is why I love Ghost. We have incredible people here and we take immense pride in building an exceptional product experience.
